Elma Bustronic Releases RoHS-compliant CompactPCI Backplanes

FREMONT, California, Aug. 2, 2006 - Elma Bustronic Corporation, an industry leading designer and manufacturer of high performance backplanes now offers its CompactPCI backplanes in Restrictions of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)-compliant styles.
The RoHS initiative requires that new electronic equipment can't be released to the European market after 07/01/2006 that contains more than 0.1% (1000 PPM) of lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, polybrominated diphenyl ethers and more than 0.01% (100 PPM) for cadmium. For backplanes, lead-free solder and components must be used. Elma Bustronic has updated dozens of CompactPCI backplane designs to meet the compliance standard.
The RoHS backplanes are compliant to the PICMG basic specification 2.0 R3.0 and PICMG Hot Swap specification 2.1 R1.0 Also, Elma Bustronic offers versions conforming to PICMG 2.16 for Compact Packet Switching and the H.110 Computer Telephony specification 2.5 R1.0 The backplanes feature an 8-12 layer controlled impedance stripline design, superior power distribution, and have virtually zero crosstalk.
Elma Bustronic offers RoHS-compliant CompactPCI backplanes in 3U, 6U, and 7U heights. Configurations are available in Low Profile, EasyPlug, and EasyCable formats. Both right and left-justified versions are available, as well as both 32-bit and 64-bit designs.
Pricing for the RoHS cPCI backplanes start under $100.00 depending on volume and configuration requirements. The lead time is 4-6 weeks ARO.
