Electron Beam Welding, LLC Prepares for Delivery of New Large Chamber Electron Beam Welder from PTR


Enfield, CT - Electron Beam Welding (EBW), LLC of Buena Park, California is planning to take delivery of a large chamber 150kV electron beam welder manufactured by PTR-Precision Technologies of Enfield, Connecticut.

Staff from EBW is currently at PTR receiving their initial training on the control and operation of the machine. Larry Sato, president of EBW, summarized this project by saying "EBW intends to stay at the forefront of EB welding technology and capability. It has been a very long time since new Electron Beam capacity has been added in Southern California. There is demand for these specialized capabilities on the West Coast and it is our intention to provide the best services to our customers."

The system is 150kV, 25kW with a chamber size of 144 inches by 60 inches by 72 inches. It is capable of welding parts of just under 5 feet diameter. All beam parameters and multi-axis motion is controlled by a Fanuc CNC. It is part of the latest generation of electron beam welding machines which are designed to weld more automatically with less operator intervention. This is the 6th and largest EB Welder at EBW, LLC. It will be put into operation in February of this year.

PTR Sales Manager Dale Butrymowicz commented, "After months of work, we are pleased to see the final testing and trials on the completed machine and to have staff from EBW at our facility. The system is ready for shipment to Buena Park and we are confident that the new welder will enhance EBW's job shop capabilities."
