Electrically Conductive Coatings provide EMI shielding.

Press Release Summary:

Specially formulated for application on plastics, 1-component Nickel-filled Acrylic Coating provides EMI shielding on electronic enclosures and assemblies where abrasion resistance is important, both external RF fields must be excluded, and internal radiated emission must be attenuated. Adhering to Kapton, Mylar, and glass, Epoxy-based Ink and Coating is resistant to flexing and creasing and is suitable for application by screen printing, dipping, and syringe dispensing.

Central Coating Introduces Two New EMI Shielding Materials

West Boylston, MA - Central Coating has announced the use of two new materials for emi shielding applications.

The first compound is an electrically conductive, one-component nickel-filled acrylic coating that is specially formulated for application on plastics to provide modest EMI shielding ideal for use on electronic enclosures and assemblies where abrasion resistance and coating durability are important. This durable, conductive coating derives its hardness from its nickel composition and may provide limited amounts of H-field shielding. Given its relatively low conductivity as compared to other metal fillers, the nickel provides exceptional shielding for enclosures where both external RF fields must be excluded, and internal radiated emission must be attenuated.

The benefits include good EMI shielding performance at standard thickness and application and good adhesion to a variety of substrates. This conductive coating is ideal for a variety of applications, including: Moderate EMI shielding and anti-static protection.

The second material is an electrically screen-printable, electrically conductive, epoxy based ink and coating suitable for application by screen printing, dipping and syringe dispensing. This product features excellent adhesion to Kapton, Mylar, glass and a variety of other surfaces. Unlike conventional conductive materials, this product is very resistant to flexing and creasing. Some applications for this include printed potentiometers, printed resistors, emi/rfi shielding of polyimide flexible circuits, polymer thick film circuitry, membrane switches and anode coatings for tantalum capacitors.
