NTI and FCI Announce the Availability of Heavy Duty Electrical Connectors
Solon, OH - April 3, 2007 - NTI, a dedicated, stocking representative of electrical connectors to the North American heavy duty equipment market, has introduced the APEX 2.8 mm line of electrical connectors from FCI. These heavy duty, in-line electrical connectors are designed for applications where heat, moisture and vibration are a major concern. These connectors come pre-assembled with a proprietary two-piece technology that supports 2-way, 3-way, 4-way, 5-way, 6-way, 10-way and 14-way connections. Common uses include wire harnesses for engines, chassis and devices in commercial, agriculture, construction, off-road and specialty vehicle markets.
The APEX 2.8 connection systems support wire sizes from 22 AWG to 10 AWG and are available in sealed and unsealed configurations. A 5.25 mm terminal pitch and 6.4 mm row spacing makes these connectors versatile in a wide range of applications. Connector positioning assurance and a primary connector lock enable one hand operation, while a double shroud design protects the seal.
APEX 2.8 connectors feature a high normal force, low insertion force technology, proven reliable and safe in over 15 years of use. The non-polarized terminal design and matte seal technology eliminate the need for individual cable seals and reduce the number of parts. Male and female connectors come pre-assembled, requiring that only the terminal wire leads be inserted and the terminal assurance device be set. There are no loose parts and no separate seals that have to be crimped to the wire. The pre-assembled components reduce inventory and save time during assembly.
These systems are classified as Class 3 under USCAR specifications and have been tested to greater than 200 degrees C for 950 hours. The gold inlay/plated system is classified as Class 4 under USCAR specifications when used with the proper high temperature wire.
