Electric Motors are suited for use in oil and gas exploration.

Press Release Summary:

With outside dimensions of 3.5 and 3.625 in., AC induction motors are built for performance and reliability at ambient temperatures up to 450°F and pressures to 30,000 psi. They join single-phase electric motors, with ODs from 1.5-3.625 in. (1.5 hp), which can be offered with gear heads, feedback devices, or other custom requirements. Suited for down hole oil exploration tools, motors are typically used to run central hydraulic pump or are directly coupled to drill bit.

Electric Motors for Oil and Gas Exploration

LOS ANGELES -- Ducommun Incorporated (NYSE:DCO) today announced that its Ducommun Technologies, Inc. (DTI) subsidiary, a long-time supplier of AC and brushless DC electric motors, stepper motors, resolvers and actuators for the space, defense and oil service industries, expanded its product line of high-pressure and high-temperature AC induction motors for down hole oil exploration tools. The two new designs with outside dimensions of 3.5 and 3.625 inches offer improved motor efficiency and reduced temperature rise and represent a significant step in performance and reliability at ambient temperatures of up to 450°F (230°C) and pressures up to 30,000 psi. The existing product line of single phase electric motors includes designs from OD 1.5 inches up to 3.625 inches (1.5 hp) which can be offered with gear heads, feedback devices or other custom specified requirements. The motors are typically used to run the central hydraulic pump or are directly coupled to the drill bit. They are also used as actuators for many other downhole tool applications.

Ducommun's high performance motion control devices include 3 phase induction motors, alternators, BLDC motors and resolvers which are recognized as the most reliable products for downhole drilling tools in the oil and gas exploration industry. They are used worldwide by the prime oil service companies because of their unsurpassed lifetime at the increasingly demanding environment many miles under the earth surface.
