New VALVCON(TM) ADC Series Backup Power Actuators
Provides up to 3,000 in. lbs. of torque and ten self-powered cycles for orderly shutdown.
NORTHBOROUGH, MA (June 28, 2005) - Metso Automation's newly designed VALVCON(TM) brand ADC series electric actuators have internal power packs for an automated, self-powered response to a power or signal loss. When there is an external power or signal loss , the VALVCON internal power pack is automatically activated and can either drive the actuator to a pre-set position or continue to respond to a maintained control signal.
VALVCON ADC series electric actuators provide up to 3,000 inch pounds of torque. The back-up powered feature incorporates a rechargeable power pack and plug-in modular electronics that fit under the standard actuator cover. ADC actuators provide ten complete cycles under their own power, and no wiring or other complex set-up operations are required.
The all new control and feedback interface for VALVCON ADC series actuators has numerous advanced features. It incorporates convenient slide switches for control signal (input) 4-20 mA or 0-10 VDC and feedback signal (output)-20 mA or 0-10 VDC.
Signal range can be split, i.e., 4-12 mA or 12-20 mA. Slide switches are also provided to set control signal fail and loss of power positions. The on-board supervisory control allows the user to safely position the valve or damper via CW and CCW push buttons.
The control package provides 256 discrete positions between 0° and 90° F. Adjustable dead band eliminates response to noise on the signal input, and positioning accuracy is better than 1%.
VALVCON ADC battery back-up actuators are available in on/off (two position) or modulating models. Internal power packs allow for continued cycling during power outages, enabling an orderly shutdown of critical processes. A built-in trickle charger, with over-charge protection, ensures the ADC series actuators always have enough power when called upon. Power packs can be easily replaced in the field.
