EDL to Exhibit a Combination Case Packer with Double Tight Wrap and Pick and Place Robotics at Pack Expo 2012

EDL Packaging Engineers, Inc., a leading North American supplier of end-of-line packaging solutions, will showcase its latest technology at Pack Expo 2012, October 28, to October 31, in booth N-4309 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

EDL's combination Case Packer with Double Tight Wrap and Pick and Place Robotics features vision guided robotics for bundler product orientation, regardless of product position on infeed. A single head is capable of up to 35 picks per minute and can handle products up to 10 lbs. Changeovers re rapid and repeatable, providing maximum production efficiency. The space saving, robotic case packing system handles fragile products that cannot be bundled.

The precise handling of bagged products, in concert with EDL's Double Tight Wrap system,
facilitates tightly wrapped bundles for improved product pallet stacking without using excess film. The Double Tight Wrap system produces consistently sized bales with brick-like density. Bales can be automatically, hand palletized or slip-sheeted with no overhang. Pallets or slip-sheets can be warehoused four-high and are free from damage due to pallet overhang.

The Double Tight Wrap system is available with vision guided robotics. The pick and place feature allows precise product placement. End users may utilize a wide variety of side laying, paper and plastic pre-made pouch styles including quad seal gable top, stand-up pouches and pillow bags.

EDL's unique Double Tight Wrap system uses constant mechanical tension to create a tight
wrap of film around the bundle, while using less film and less energy than traditional shrink bundling methods. By using a low energy heat tunnel, the Double Tight Wrap system can wrap filled plastic bags and pouches without the risk of fusing laminate and film. Double film coverage protects damageprone corners and edges and allows cost-effective, lighter film gauges to be used.
