Boulder Imaging, Inc. Releases Quazar 4.0 Software Update

New HPDVR Release Focuses on Video Production Workflow & Efficiencies

Boulder, Colorado
Boulder Imaging has released version 4.0 of its Quazar high performance digital video recording (HPDVR) platform. Based upon evolving customer requirements and market research, version 4.0 is packed with six new powerful capabilities to provide an even more optimized user experience than its 3.x predecessor. "Boulder Imaging is committed to delivering thoughtfully designed and thoroughly tested software - the Quazar 4.0 release is no exception to this commitment," says CEO Carlos Jorquera. This version release will be formally announced at the SPIE DSS Conference to be held in Orlando in early April.

Pre-Production AVI 2.0 "One Click" and Native M-JPEG codec (compression)
AVI 2.0 "One Click" allows recording directly to the industry standard .avi file format (Audio Video Interleave) supporting extremely large file size limits. Additionally, Quazar 4.0 gives the user the ability to enable M-JPEG compression for each camera used. This combination of capabilities provides uninterrupted, long duration recording and easier transport when sharing video. Quazar 4.0's support of direct to AVI 2.0 recording allows users to instantly import the video into applications like Final Cut Pro in just one step. Quazar 4.0 turns hours of post-processing into just a few minutes.

Automate with Metadata and Directory Creator
"We were intent upon delivering powerful automation capabilities in the 4.0 release, including the ability to customize and capture critical recording metadata in real-time," says Kevin Hunt, Manager of Engineering Services. The ability to define custom metadata schemas allows the user to capture virtually any text, multiline text, number, floating point number, date, time or valid item list information at all levels of the recording. Data can be flagged to be required, reducing data entry mistakes. In addition, the Directory Creator significantly increases efficiency by building custom directories during production.

Audio and Video Synchronization
Audio recordings are precisely synchronized with video frame rates at record time, playback and when exported. In Quazar 4.0 audio and video will continue to be synchronized even when .avi frame rates are adjusted at export. "It's a huge technical challenge to maintain synchronization of video and audio over long duration high speed recordings. This will continue to be an ongoing area of focus for us because of market demand," states Marketing Director Kevin Shayne."

ARMY Vista "Beta Compliant"
Quazar 4.0 is now "beta" qualified against the National Security Agency's (NSA) "Specialized Security - Limited Functionality" (SSLF) security recommendations. "We felt it essential to balance the needs of military and government customers while at the same time ensuring maximum interoperability and compatibility. I'm very excited that we've been able to achieve this and intend to maintain our leadership in this particular arena as technology continues to advance," states Michael Willis, Boulder Imaging President. These guidelines are currently being utilized throughout the government and by numerous entities as a security baseline for their systems. Willis adds, "Quazar 4.0 brings many new compelling features to our world-class recording and analysis software."
