Abilis Systems Introduces World's Smallest DVB-H/T Receiver

GENEVA, Switzerland, February 4--

o New AS-101 Mobile Digital TV Single Chip Receiver is now Available

o Complete Single-Chip in a Small Footprint 5mm x 5mm CSP Package

o Enables Worldwide Coverage With Superior Sensitivity, Power Efficiency and Low System Cost

o To be Demonstrated at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona

Abilis Systems, a Kudelski Group (SWX:KUD) company, has announced the availability of the world's smallest digital mobile TV receiver for DVB-H/T applications, produced in a 5mm x 5mm CSP package. The new AS-101 integrates multi-band RF tuner, advanced OFDM demodulator, memory and interfaces onto a single 90nm CMOS die, with the receiver performance surpassing the MBRAI 2 and Nordig 1.0.3 specifications.

The AS-101 is optimized for multiple mobile and handheld applications, enabling digital TV capability on any device with a display. It supports the integration of both DVB-H and DVB-T standards in mobile phones, portable media players as well as PND. A number of reference designs based on various applications processors have already been developed.

This new single-chip receiver is part of a family of digital TV receivers from Abilis Systems based on its unique low power software defined radio (SDR) architecture and innovative multi-band RF tuner. The company's SDR technique allows adaptive data processing and ensures excellent receiver performance in all reception conditions - using a parallel processing OFDM engine that demodulates signals even in noisy environments and high speed conditions. The integration of a multi-band zero-IF radio ensures that the minimum of external components are required. This means that the AS-101 enables worldwide coverage with superior sensitivity, power efficiency and low system cost.

The AS-101, available in a 5mm x 5mm CSP package, reduces significantly the overall cost and size of mobile devices with digital TV enabled. Abilis Systems will demonstrate at the Mobile World Congress taking place in Barcelona early February a small, easy to integrate, module with single side mounted components which breaks the $5 barrier in volume quantities.
