Coded-Magnet Safety Door Handle System



Tarrytown, NY, May 18, 2005 ... SCHMERSAL is pleased to announce the introduction of their new tamper-resistant, coded-magnet Safety Door Handle System.

The Series BNS-B20 is designed for use as a combination door handle and safety interlock switch on light- to medium-weight hinged and sliding machine guards. Each unit consists of a low-profile door handle assembly equipped with two multiple reed switch arrays and coded-magnet actuators. The reed switches will only close in the presence of their matched magnetic field array.

This IP67 rated, assembly features two N.C. contacts and one N.O. contact, an LED display of switch status, and an M12x1 quick disconnect for easy installation. In addition the integral latching magnets attract pole pieces with a holding force of approximately 100 Newtons. Available for right- or left-hand guards, the unit is designed for compatibility with 35mm, 40mm, and 45 mm aluminum profiles. When used with a SCHMERSAL compatible safety controller, it satisfies EN 954, Safety Control Category 4.

Its' rugged design makes it ideal for food processing equipment, chemical processing equipment, woodworking machinery, packaging machinery and printing equipment.
