OPEX® Incoming and Scanning Releases Upgraded Document Imaging Solution

MOORESTOWN, N.J., Jan. 12 /-- OPEX(R) Incoming and Scanning, a division of OPEX(R) Corporation, today released the next version of its document imaging system, the AS3690. The successor to the popular AS3600 high-speed color scanner, the AS3690 is available as either a stand-alone device (AS3690t), or integrated with an OPEX Rapid Extraction Desk (AS3690i). Coupled with an Extraction Desk, the OPEX AS3690i can open, capture, process, and sort mail with one operator in a single pass.

In 2003, OPEX leveraged its mail extraction expertise and launched the AS3600i into the emerging digital mailroom market. This was the first product to offer high-speed mail extraction and full-page scanning in one piece of equipment.

With the introduction of the AS3690, OPEX continues its investment in the document management arena. "Organizations want to scan a wide variety of documents at high-speeds, but also ensure data integrity. The AS3690 can scan just about any type of document in the mailroom, eliminating extra hands and steps in the process. Not only does this improve efficiency and reduce costs, it's also more secure," said Mark Stevens, President and CEO of OPEX Corporation.

Jeff Bowen, President of OPEX Incoming and Scanning summarized the changes, stating, "The AS3690 builds on the proven technology of the AS3600. It offers all the same benefits, but with some additional features and faster performance. With these improvements, we expect the AS3690i to continue as the premier digital mailroom solution."

New features include a dual core PC controller and upgraded conveyor for improved processing -- up to 90 pages per minute, a color 17" LCD touch screen that provides operator controls and information, and a variety of mechanical refinements. Other notable additions are IdAssist(TM) and KeyAssist(TM) for convenient document classification, a wider MICR head for reading business checks and skewed checks, expanded document feeding capabilities, and image quality enhancements.
