Distance Sensors offer resolutions to 4 microns.

Press Release Summary:

Analog Laser Sensors measure distances up to 1 m with response time of 900 µsec. Teach-in programming uses on-board button or remote access, and provides set-up with no external programming. Self-contained sensors incorporate microprocessor technology to measure distance to target based on triangulation principal. They offer dual analog output of 4-20 mA and 0-10 Vdc or RS-485 digital output. Units can provide surface profiling, thickness measurement, and height detection.

Baumer Electric Introduces Fast Response, High-Resolution Programmable Analog Laser Distance Sensors

Southington, Conn. -March 26, 2003. Baumer Electric has expanded its family of analog laser sensors to include high resolution, fast response, programmable products designed for positioning applications that require continuous, extremely precise distance measurement.

To meet the demands of highly precise positioning applications, the new analog laser distance sensors offer resolutions to four (4) microns. These products provide the flexibility of longer range measurement with sensing distances of up to one meter. Response times as fast as 900 microseconds allow these sensors to accurately track very high speed applications. The new models are designed with teach-in programming using an on-board button or remote access. This teach-in feature provides easy programming and set-up, and requires no external programming.

The new sensors are ideal for surface profiling, thickness measurement, height detection, roll diameter detection and quality control applications.

Available in a compact 50 x 65 x 20 mm size, all Baumer Electric analog laser distance sensors accurately measure the distance to a target based on the triangulation principal and output the measurement either through an analog or a digital interface. These sensors are completely self-contained and require no external amplifier. Laser distance sensors incorporate microprocessor technology to further optimize the dual analog output: 4-20 mA & 0-10VDC, or the RS485 digital output. Standard analog units come equipped with both analog current and voltage outputs.
