Rockwell Automation Adds Just the Right Touch to the Allen-Bradley PanelView 600 Touch Only Terminal: a Clearer, More Vibrant Display

Enhancements to touch screen display means OEMs can offer their customers improved display quality without increasing purchase or installation costs

MILWAUKEE, January 23, 2003-Complete Automation® leader Rockwell Automation has introduced updates to its PanelView(TM) 600 Touch Only display line that greatly enhance image clarity and quality. The new version features a more vibrant display that is easier to read in bright light conditions from a range of viewing angles, and incorporates advanced color separation and consistent backlighting to achieve heightened clarity.

"The improved PanelView 600 provides substantial enhancements in visual clarity, resolution and brightness compared to previous models," said David Kaley, Product Manager, Rockwell Automation. "It's a great opportunity for OEMs to increase the appeal of their machines by offering an improved interface without an increase in price."

These new features, added in response to growing customer demand, are made possible by upgrading the display screen from passive matrix to active matrix Thin Film Transistor (TFT) technology. Advances in TFT technology have driven down the cost, enabling Rockwell Automation to enhance the performance of the PanelView 600 Touch Screen without additional installation or purchase costs for the OEM.

Featuring a space saving, flat-panel design, the PanelView 600 operator interface terminals offer high-performance functionality including advanced alarm handling, screen security, analog gauges, ATA PC memory card, universal language support, and online printing for more intuitive operator control. PanelView 600 can be networked through a variety of communication protocols, including DeviceNet(TM), ControlNet(TM), EtherNet/IP, Data Highway Plus(TM), Remote I/O, DF1 (RS-232), DH-485, Profibus, and Modbus. Additionally, end users and OEMs can configure their PanelView terminals using the Allen-Bradley PanelBuilder32(TM) software for easy conversion and reuse of applications.
