Miniature Displacement Sensor Installs in Seconds, Saves Money Features 360° EasyMount(TM) Design and Ultra-Small Size

PALMDALE, CALIFORNIA USA - Delivering a 21.25-inch (541-mm) range and flexible mounting in an ultra-small package, SpaceAge Control is shipping the Series L of miniature position transducers for cost-conscious OEM applications. The products give high accuracy and long-life in a 1.70-inch diameter by 1.53-inch long (43-mm by 39-mm) package. Typical applications include simulator actuator feedback, steel mill controls feedback, and medical device locating function.

Developed as a space-saving alternative to rod-and-cylinder products such as LVDTs and linear potentiometers, the flexible and easy-to-install products use a stainless steel cable wound around a spring-powered precision-machined drum. The bearing-mounted drum is mated to a sensor assembly that translates linear position information to an electrical signal. Key features and benefits include:

o DirectConnect(TM) technology eliminates backlash resulting from
spring-loaded and clutched designs

o AccuDrum(TM) threaded cable spool ensures repeatability from cycle to cycle

o EasyMount(TM) design allows 360° mounting rotation to eliminate
special fixturing

The Series L position transducers are easily installed using supplied cam locks or optional tube clamps. Installation generally takes less than 1 minute. The products weigh less than 2 oz. (57 g) and can withstand 100g/15g shock/vibration environments. Analog or digital outputs are available. Operating temperature is from -40° to +85° C (analog) and -10°
to +85° C (digital). Custom configurations and signal conditioning are available. Operating lifetime is in excess of 5,00,000 shaft revolutions (analog) and 50,000,000 shaft revolutions (digital).

SpaceAge Control is a leader in the development of innovative, rugged, miniature position transducers. Its quality system is compliant with ISO 9001 and AS9000. The company was started in 1968 and is located in Palmdale, California USA.
