Dimension SST 3D Printer Receives Highest Marks in Head-to-Head Benchmark Analysis

T.A. Grimm & Associates Ranks Dimension Number One in Dimensional Accuracy

MINNEAPOLIS - Jan. 11, 2006 - The Dimension 3D Printing Group, a business unit of Stratasys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSYS), announced today it received the highest marks in a head-to-head benchmark analysis conducted by T.A. Grimm & Associates, Inc., a leading consulting firm covering the rapid prototyping market. The report, "3D Printer Dimensional Accuracy Benchmark" published in October 2005, ranked the Dimension SST 3D printer number one in dimensional accuracy compared to the Invision SR and Zprinter 310 from 3D Systems and Z-Corp, respectively.

The parts, supplied by end-user organizations and not the manufacturers themselves, were put through a series of tests and quality control inspections in a blind study to determine the accuracy and quality of prototype production. The analysis shows that, compared to the other printers, the Dimension SST has the narrowest range of tolerance deviation from the original STL design files.

In the research report, author Todd Grimm notes the Dimension SST's "level of dimensional accuracy and the consistency of the results rival that of rapid prototyping systems that cost much more."

"This study validates the extremely high quality prototype production that's possible with the Dimension SST," said Jon Cobb, vice president and general manager of 3D printing for Stratasys. "The ability to confidently test form, fit and function is a key component to any design process. The Dimension SST provides a level of quality unmatched in the industry, giving designers confidence that enables them to speed products to market."

The Dimension SST, which builds functional 3D parts out of durable ABS plastic, incorporates an automated soluble support removal system, which gives users greater convenience in the design process by reducing engineering time and enabling the development of prototypes with more complex design geometries.

About The Dimension 3D Printing Group
The Dimension 3D Printing Group is a business unit of Stratasys, Inc., based in Minneapolis, Minn. Dimension 3D printers; which include the Dimension BST and the Dimension SST – are networked, desktop modeling systems that provide CAD (Computer-Aided-Design) users a fast, office-friendly, low-cost alternative for building functional 3D prints. Dimension 3D printers build accurate models layer by layer using durable ABS plastic, allowing users to not only evaluate design concepts, but test 3D prints for functionality, form and fit. As the first desktop 3D printer that sells for less than $20,000, Dimension incorporates many key features found in modeling systems that cost tens of thousands of dollars more.
