Digiturk Selects Pace for High Definition PVR Launch First Pace HD PVR Set-Top Box With Irdeto Conditional Access

Saltaire, West Yorkshire, 6 September 2006: Pace Micro Technology plc (pic.l), the leading dedicated innovator of technology solutions for the payTV industry, has been selected by Digiturk, the first and only name in digital platform management in Turkey, as the satellite operator's launch partner for its high definition (HD) personal video recorder (PVR) TV service.
Pace will be supplying its cutting-edge triple-tuner HD PVR set-top box to Digiturk - the TDS850IDI - to launch the operator's service across Turkey in summer 2007. The agreement also includes an order for Pace's digital satellite set-top box - the DS265IDI. Both set-top boxes come with in-built Irdeto Conditional Access (CA).
The TDS850IDI is the first ever Pace HD PVR set-top box with Irdeto CA and the newest addition to Pace's portfolio of HD products. This HD PVR comes with dual DVB-S2 tuners, as well as a dedicated DVB-S tuner for push-VOD services. A 250Gb hard drive provides storage for up to 60 hours of HD - or 120 hours of standard definition (SD) - programming.
Pace will integrate OpenTV's middleware to deliver an array of digital television services to Digiturk's subscribers. The OpenTV middleware software will support the TDS850IDI and will also include push-VOD, which will allow subscribers to select, download, and store feature films and television shows directly onto the set-top box hard drive.
The DS265IDI is Pace's next generation MPEG-2 SD satellite set-top box, which also comes with Irdeto's advanced encryption technology including the latest on-chip security. An embedded modem will enable Digiturk to offer a range of interactive services to customers, such as red button applications.
