EFJ, Inc. Subsidiary Releases New VoSec(TM) Digital Encryption Module

IRVING, Texas, May 22 -- EFJ, Inc. (NASDAQ:EFJI) announced today that Transcrypt International now offers the VoSec digital encryption module for Icom, Kenwood and Vertex two-way analog radios.

This advanced encryption technology is designed to prevent unwanted eavesdropping by enemies, terrorists and criminals. VoSec helps keep critical communications confidential, helping to improve homeland security and protect vital information and personnel. The module offers 128-bit security, whereby unwanted listeners hear only "white noise," while the intended listener hears clear, natural sounding voice. VoSec security is available for both the U.S. and international markets. The VoSec MO80-760 was introduced last year for many models of Motorola Professional series radios.

"Transcrypt's new VoSec voice security modules enable analog radio users to benefit from one of the highest levels of digital encryption," said Michael E. Jalbert, chairman and chief executive officer of EFJ, Inc. The complete VoSec digital encryption solution includes modules for portable and mobile radios, a Keyload Radio Interface Box (KRIB) and proprietary keyloader software. To maximize security over time, unique security parameters can be changed securely via wireline or over-the-air. In tactical situations, radios can be "killed" in an instant when they are lost or stolen, preventing adversaries from using stolen radios to their advantage.

New Modules Now Available

The new SC20-760 version of VoSec is a generic module suitable for a wide variety of brands and models of radios. Currently application notes have been developed for the module to be installed in Icom IC-F110 / F111 / F121 / F210 / F211 / F221 models, Kenwood TK-2160 / 2168 / 280 / 3160 / 3168 / 380 / 2180 /3180 / 7180 / 8180 and TMG707A models and Vertex Standard VX-921 / 924 / 929 / 970 series models.
