Overview
IBM WebSphere® Development Studio Client for iSeries(TM) (Development Studio Client) V5.1 inherits and extends WebSphere Studio Site Developer (Site Developer) V5.1 to deliver an integrated development environment (IDE) and tools for developing Java(TM), Web, Web services, client/server, and iSeries server applications. The iSeries enhancements to Site Developer V5.1 make it easy to create, test, deploy, and maintain sophisticated e-business applications with little Java, Web, or Web-service programming.
The improved iSeries server development capabilities of this Eclipse-based IDE provide many compelling reasons for application developers to upgrade from Application Development ToolSet (ADTS) or CoOperative Development Environment (CODE).
The IDE reduces the learning curve by providing a consistent interface for developing iSeries server applications and e-business applications. This allows developers to progress easily to new levels in their application development. The IDE delivers on the promise of tool integration and interoperability. It enables seamless integration with best-of-breed tools from IBM and several key iSeries partners.
The IBM WebFacing Tool, a component of Development Studio Client, makes it easy to quickly and cost effectively Web-enable your existing 5250 applications. WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries V5.1
Development Studio Client inherits and extends the robust, easy-to-use development environment of WebSphere Studio Site Developer V5.1 for creating, building, and maintaining dynamic Web sites, or developing Java, Web, and Web services applications. The extensions in Development Studio Client make it easy to access iSeries data and programs for Java, Web, and Web services developers. It also includes a robust, easy-to-use development environment for creating, building, and maintaining iSeries RPG, COBOL, C, and C++ applications, and Web-enabled applications using the IBM WebFacing Tool. The Development Studio Client infrastructure facilitates the seamless integration of all development tools, IBM and non-IBM.
The Remote System Explorer (RSE) allows the iSeries developer to leverage the capabilities of the integrated development environment for developing iSeries server applications. RSE provides iSeries system access (similar to PDM) from the Eclipse-based IDE for editing, compiling, and debugging iSeries applications.
