Original Press Release:

Arcom Launches New Release of Windows XP Embedded Development Kit with .NET Framework Support on a 1GHz Pentium III SBC

Kansas City, USA and Cambridge, England - July, 2003 - Arcom is offering even more value with their latest Windows XP Embedded Development Kit for the OLYMPUS single board computer. Arcom is now shipping their market leading Development Kit with the Intel 1GHz Socket 370 Pentium III processor and a 512Mbyte Sandisk CompactFlash card, along with the technology updates offered by Windows XP Embedded Service Pack 1 (SP1). The key features brought to you in the new operating system image include the .NET Framework, several security updates and support for IPv6. The .NET Framework enables you to build, deploy and run web-based applications, XML Web services, and stand-alone applications built upon the Common Language Runtime (CLR) and the .NET Framework class library. Arcom's ready-to-run development kit bundles all these technology features into a pre-installed image loaded onto the 512Mbyte CompactFlash card - it runs straight out of the box. IPv6 support now provides longer IP addresses, better routing capabilities, and more integrated security.

Arcom's development kit strategy enables customers to quickly develop and demonstrate Windows XP Embedded and .NET based applications using a reliable embedded platform suitable for OEM applications. You do not need to use Target Designer to build an operating system image - you just download your application and go!

The OLYMPUS Windows XP Embedded Development Kit includes the OLYMPUS single board computer fitted with a 1GHz Intel Pentium III CPU (other options available), 256Mbytes PC133 SDRAM, 512Mbytes CompactFlash card (loaded with a licensed copy of XP Embedded), PSU, serial and Ethernet cable sets, DVI interface board, Quickstart Manual and the Development Kit Utility CD. There is also an option for a 6.5" NEC VGA TFT color display, analog touchscreen and touchscreen controller.

The OLYMPUS is an EBX format (5.75" x 8") Socket370 single board computer which can be fitted with the Intel Celeron and Pentium III processors up to 1GHz (133MHz FSB). The board also offers high performance S3 ProSavage graphics, 10/100baseTx Ethernet, four serial ports, and expansion via a PCI slot, CompactFlash socket and industry standard PC/104.
