Developer's Kit for Metral Backplane Cable Connectors Now Available from FCI

ETTERS, PA. (April 2, 2007) - FCI, a leading supplier of connectors and interconnect systems, has introduced the Metral® Cable Developer's Kit to support designs requiring internal cable connections to standard Metral brand and other IEC 61076-4-104 backplane connectors. This free kit provides a selection of Metral cable connectors that designers can use for experimentation and cable assembly prototyping.
"The Developer's Kit for the Metral backplane connector family will allow our customers to mock-up different cabling schemes in their Metral based systems," says Sean Riley, regional marketing manager for FCI. "Metral connectors are designed for high-speed environments like servers, storage devices, computing platforms and communication devices and equipment."
The Metral Developer's Kit includes:
o 4 and 5 row Metral connector subassemblies
o Metral cable connector covers
o Two latching options for user convenience and varying cable sizes
o Cable ties
o Right-angle headers for independent applications not mating to backplanes
o Sample FCI cable assembly
Metral cable connectors employ insulation displacement crimp (IDC) contacts and component hardware that increases the speed of the cable assembly process.
