Deepwater Flowmeters facilitate removal of DP transmitters.

Press Release Summary:

Suitable for water depths to 10,000 ft, retrievable instrument pack lets operators remove and replace Differential Pressure (DP) transmitters using Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). System typically consists of flow meter, 7-valve manifold, inboard plate, and outboard instrument pack, including 2 off DP transmitters for redundancy. Options include hot stab methanol injection for flushing through impulse pipe work from inboard plate to flow meter.

Ametek Solartron ISA Introduces First Deepwater Flowmeters with Retrievable Instrument Packs

Shildon, County Durham, UK - Solartron ISA, a business unit of AMETEK Process & Analytical Instruments, offers a retrievable instrument pack that allows operators to remove and replace DP (Differential Pressure) transmitters using an ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle). The first units (9 off) of this new system currently are being supplied to a deep water project offshore Nigeria that includes both water injection and gas injection flow meters

The system typically consists of a flow meter, seven-valve manifold, inboard plate and outboard instrument pack, including DP transmitters. Necessary ROV tooling can be rented or purchased. Options include hot stab methanol injection for flushing through the impulse pipe work from the inboard plate to the flow meter.

Each instrument pack is supplied with 2 off DP transmitters for redundancy. That allows operators to continue measurement using a single transmitter until the retrieval/replacement of the instrument pack can be handled as a routine intervention.

The ROV instrument pack is suitable for water depths of 3000 meters (10,000 feet). Solartron ISA will provide specific installation requirements for optimum configuration based on individual project needs.

Solartron ISA designs and manufactures flow measurement devices for the oil and gas industry, including its patented Dualstream® Wet Gas meters, which are able to differentiate between liquid and gas flows in an on-line, real-time process for flow metering at the well-head or transmission pipeline.

Solartron ISA is a unit of AMETEK, Inc., a leading diversified manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annualized sales of more than $1.6 billion.
