B+K Precision® Introduces New Family of Bench Top Switching DC Power Supplies
YORBA LINDA, Calif., May 30. 2003...B+K Precision Corporation, one of the industry's leading suppliers of test and measurement products, today announced the addition of the Models 1665, 1666, and 1667, a new family of compact, laboratory grade, Bench Top Switching DC Power Supplies to its expanding product line. Utilizing a standard 115VAC outlet as the power source, the new units provide continuous operation up to 200 Watts and are ideal for a variety of bench-top laboratory applications.
B+K's new family of switching power supplies provides maximum current output continuously hour after hour with minimal thermal drift. They have been designed with course and fine output voltage and current limiting controls. Bright, front panel mounted 3-1/2 digit LED auto-range meters provide 0.000 Amp readings and 0.00 Volt readings in the low range operation and automatically to 00.00 readings in the high range of the scale. Priced at only $225.00, the Models 1665, 1666, and 1667 offer exceptional performance at a very reasonable cost.
All three compact, laboratory grade, 200W Switching DC Power Supplies provide high current output in a lightweight (7.7lbs/3Kg) and compact package (8.07" x 4.53" x 10.63"/205 x 115 x 270mm). The family provides a variety of power configurations with voltage output from 1 - 20VDC for the Model 1665, 1 - 40VDC for the Model 1666 and 1 - 60VDC for the Model 1667. Rated output current ranges from 0 - 10A for the model 1665, to 0 - 5A and 0 - 3.3A for the Models 1666 and 1667 respectively.
Dual output voltage controls consist of a course and a fine front panel-mounted potentiometer. The dual current limiter controls consist of a course and a fine control which set the DC current limit.
The power supplies are designed to operate as a constant voltage source or as a constant current source. Automatic crossover to either mode of operation occurs when load conditions change. They will operate as a constant voltage source as long as the load current is less than the current limiting value set by the current limit operation. When the load current is equal to or greater than the current limit set, they will automatically cross over and operate as a constant current source.
The units will operate as a constant current source when the load voltage does not equal the voltage value set by the output voltage control. When the load voltage equals the value set by the output voltage control, the unit will automatically switch and operate as a constant voltage source.
Front-panel controls and indicators include two 3-1/2 digit Digital LED meters which provide for an accurate and highly readable indicator of output voltage and output current. Other front panel indicators and controls include an ON/OFF power switch, a Power LED, Constant Current Mode indicator, Constant Voltage Mode indicator, Coarse and Fine Voltage control knobs, Coarse and Fine Current control knobs, and three Output Terminals (Output Terminal positive, Output terminal Negative, and GND terminal).
Specifically designed for bench-top applications, the Models 1665, 1666, 1667 include extensive filtering to provide immunity from erratic operation caused by RFI. A current fold-back circuit provides the unit with overload protection and internal circuitry provides for over temperature protection.
