Sipex Doubles Peak Operating Frequency in High Voltage Controller Family
(Milpitas, CA - June 3, 2004) - Sipex Corporation (NASDAQ: SIPX), a leading provider of high-performance, analog integrated circuits (ICs), today announced the SP6134H, a high voltage DC/DC power controller. This new, feature-rich part offers DC/DC voltage conversion from input voltages as high as 28V down to output voltages as low as 0.8V. The SP6134H operates at a fixed 600kHz switching frequency which enables the use of smaller and less expensive filtering components, such as inductors and capacitors. Built-in sequence control allows the power system to simultaneously or sequentially power up several supplies, without the use of any external components.
The SP6134H is ideal for converting wide range input voltages to lower voltages for powering ASICs, microprocessors and high speed logic. The part is also ideal for driving high power LEDs, where 12V or 24V power distribution is used, such as track lighting or landscape lighting.
The SP6134H offers a simple and unique technique for sequencing control, where by any number of power outputs can be ramped up at the same time or in sequential order. In order to provide the highest possible efficiency, the SP6134H allows the internal 800mV reference to be reduced by applying a lower external reference voltage.
