Vicor Introduces a New 110 V Input Series for Railway and Transportation Applications

Andover, MA, May 1, 2007...Vicor Corporation (NASDAQ: VICR) announced the introduction of 110 Vdc input series of 24 models of Maxi, Mini, and Micro DC-DC converters.

This new 110 V input offering includes eight standard output voltages (3.3, 5, 12, 15, 24, 28, 36, 48 V) in combination with three different package sizes (¼ brick, ½ brick, full brick) with output power ranging from 50 W up to 400 W depending on the model. The modules are designed for railway and transportation system applications including communication systems, information displays, lighting, control systems, ticket machines, passenger entertainment, public address systems, and power generation systems.

"This new input series greatly expands our product offering for the railway and transportation segment which values product robustness and reliability," said Joe Sullivan, Product Marketing Manager. "Vicor's models feature a wide input range (66-154 V continuous operation), encapsulated circuitry for shock and vibration, and extended temperature ranges in addition to the wide product offering of available product grade, output voltage and package style."

Performance specifications include a wide input voltage range in accordance with EN50155 as well as efficiencies ranging up to 90% for the higher output voltages. The models are available in five different environmental grades, with six different pin options and three baseplate options. They can also be configured in any combination using Vicor PowerBench(TM), a patented intelligent design system that allows a customer to configure a vast array of custom module designs on-line, and verify them in real time, at www.vicorpower.com.

The modules, which are optionally available in RoHS compliant models, measure, for Maxis: 4.6 x 2.2 x 0.5 inch (117 x 55,9 x 12,7mm); for Minis: 2.28 x 2.2 x 0.5 inch (57,9 x 55,9 x 12,7mm); and for Micros: 2.28 x 1.45 x 0.5 inch (57,9 x 36,8 x 12,7mm) in size with a height above board of 0.43 inch (10,9mm).

Lead times can be as short as three weeks for prototype quantities. For data sheets and additional information on Vicor DC-DC and AC-DC power products, please visit the Vicor website at www.vicorpower.com. To order, contact Vicor Customer Service at 800-735-6200 or e-mail custserv@vicr.com.
