DC/DC Converter offers integrated Schottkys in 3 x 3 mm DFN.

Press Release Summary:

Dual micropower Model LT3463 features internal 250 mA, ±42 V switches that deliver 40 and -40 V output from input voltage of 2.3-15 V. Burst Mode® Operation enables ultra-low supply current of 40 mA for both channels, while shutdown current is less than 1 mA. Low off-time of 300 ns permits use of tiny inductors and capacitors. Converter is suited for biasing TFT LCDs as well as digital camera CCDs from inputs ranging from Li-Ion to multiple cell alkaline/NiMH batteries.

Dual Micropower DC/DC Converter Offers ±40V Boost/Inverter & Integrated Schottkys in a 3 x 3mm DFN

MILPITAS, CA - January 23, 2004 - Linear Technology announces the LT3463, a dual micropower DC/DC Converter with internal Schottky diodes in a 3 x 3mm DFN package. Its internal 250mA, ±42V switches can deliver both a 40V, and a -40V output from an input voltage range of 2.3V to 15V. This makes it ideal for biasing TFT LCDs as well as digital camera Charge-Coupled Devices (CCDs) from inputs that range from Li-Ion to multiple cell alkaline/NiMH batteries. Two 42V Schottky diodes are also integrated into the device, making it the most compact solution available and ideal for space-constrained handheld applications.

The LT3463's dual low VCESAT switches (250mV @ 200mA) combined with a current limited, fixed off-time control scheme conserves operating current, delivering high efficiency over a broad range of load current. The dual internal 42V switches enable high voltage outputs to be generated without the use of costly transformers. Burst Mode® Operation enables an ultra-low supply current of 40mA for both channels, while shutdown current is less than 1mA, providing maximum battery run time for handheld devices. Finally, the LT3463's low off-time of 300ns permits the use of tiny, low profile inductors and capacitors, which combined with a 3x3mm DFN package, minimizes both footprint and cost in space conscious-constrained applications.

The LT3463EDD is available from stock in a 10-Lead DFN package. Pricing starts at $1.95 each for 1,000-piece quantities.
