Overview
The IBM TotalStorage® DS6000 series now offers remote support through a dial-up modem, as an alternative to Virtual Private Network (VPN) over the internet. The dial-up modem is an external modem that is directly installed and connected through a Storage Management Console (SMC). The dial-up modem is an optional feature to the DS6800 system, and is available with the DS6800 dial-up modem feature numbers 120x.
IBM continues to demonstrate leadership in supporting business continuance and high availability by offering IBM TotalStorage DS Command Line Interface (CLI) client support on the IBM iSeries(TM) platforms managing copy services functions. The capability is designed to extend the productivity and disaster recovery advantages offered by IBM's TotalStorage Resiliency Family technologies, including FlashCopy® and Remote Mirror and Copy solutions.
Also announced is the Power cord, Taiwan (feature number 9841).
Key prerequisites
DS CLI client support on iSeries platforms requires DS6000 series Licensed Machine Code (LMC) level 5.0.3 (or later), and iSeries OS/400® V5.2 (or later).
