Eurotherm Adds E-Mail and Mobile Phone Text Message Notification to Data Management System



LEESBURG, VA, USA, January 15, 2003 - Eurotherm, a leading manufacturer and supplier of industrial instrumentation for the process control and data acquisition industries, and a unit of Invensys plc, announces the release of a new remote notification feature in the 5000 Series Data Management System.

The new feature delivers alarm or status notifications to a cellular phone via text messaging or sends an email to one or multiple addresses. Email notification is ideal for recorders at remote unattended sites as well as for Plant supervisors or engineers requiring notification of recorder alarms, events or for notification of a service interval. The message may contain up to 9 variables such as descriptors, values, batch status and data, instrument name and number and more.

E-Mail configuration is provided for a mail server using static IP Address or DNS name. Where an Ethernet network is not available, dialup modem capability is provided. SMTP (Simple Message Transfer Protocol) and SMS (Short Message Service) provides for e-mail messages to be configured for PC or mobile telephone notification anywhere in the world.
