Onset Computer Corporation Introduces Multi-channel Data Logger for Energy Monitoring

BOURNE, MA, May 10, 2004 - Onset Computer Corporation, the leader in reliable, battery-powered data loggers, today introduced the HOBO® Micro Station, a low-cost, multi-channel data logger for indoor energy monitoring applications. Designed with a highly flexible system architecture, the Micro Station can accept pulse or analog inputs from a wide range of specialized third-party sensors - such as power meters and flow meters - as well as Onset's full suite of plug-in Smart Sensors. This suite includes sensors for measuring and recording temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, barometric pressure, and other parameters.

"To better understand a facility's energy consumption levels and identify potential savings opportunities, energy managers, building researchers and facilities managers need a portable, easy-to-use data logger that can be configured to the application at hand," said Joanna Phillips, product marketing manager for Onset. "The HOBO Micro Station provides the inherent flexibility and simplicity users need, at a price that is significantly lower than competing solutions."

The HOBO Micro Station features a large, 500,000 measurement memory capacity to enable fast sampling rates over long periods of time, and can operate for up to one year on four user-replaceable AA batteries. The Micro Station also provides optional dial-up modem access or wireless communications for remote data retrieval.

For analyzing Micro Station data, Onset offers BoxCar® 4.3, an easy-to-use, Windows-based software package that enables fast, easy set up, powerful graphing and analysis, and file export.

The HOBO Micro Station is available from Onset for $199. Quantity discounts are available for orders of five or more. Onset sensors and input adapters are sold separately.
