Factory Intelligence Network Launches FIN Version 3.7

New manufacturing data collection system diagnoses production line failures fast

WEST BERLIN, N.J., February 23, 2004 - Factory Intelligence Network LLC (FIN), will launch its FIN® Version 3.7 manufacturing data collection system at the National Plant Engineering and Facilities Management Show in Chicago, Ill., February 23-26, 2004, Booth #154. FIN Version 3.7, a Plant Engineering Magazine "Product of the Year 2003" finalist, features powerful new reporting capabilities and sophisticated tools for recording data points and keeping production lines running efficiently.

FIN Version 3.7 is a client-server based software that runs on standard, Windows®-based PCs. FIN software connects into a plant's existing control system to record all data points, making process information readily accessible to operators and supervisors. The FIN system works as a troubleshooting device, alerting plant personnel to deviations and fault conditions so that they can avoid downtime by taking preventative measures. In the event of a production line failure, customers can use the FIN system to quickly pinpoint the source of the problem.

FIN Version 3.7 will be available for demonstration at Booth #154.

FIN monitors as few or as many data points desired. Any function that's controlled or monitored by a PLC or other controller can become a troubleshooting device - push buttons, limit switches, motor currents, line speeds, and hundreds of other machine parameters. Plant personnel are equipped with "drag and drop" trending analysis tools and straightforward reporting of alarms and events. This data can then be exported to Microsoft Excel® spreadsheets with the touch of a key. Besides being readily accessible to plant personnel, FIN is also Web-enabled to permit remote monitoring and trending worldwide.

The FIN system is an affordable, user-friendly, and all-inclusive alternative to other complicated data historians. Non-engineers can easily work with the system to view and analyze process parameters to determine erratic line performance that may cause defects or inconsistencies.

"You don't need to be a process engineer to work with this system," said Ron Iannacone, president of FIN. "FIN software is packed with all the functionality plant managers need to take real-time process data from the plant floor and use it to increase the overall performance of their facility."

No Internal Resources Required
FIN is the only software that's pre-configured and implemented by factory floor experts. Following an on-site review, FIN control system engineers configure the system to communicate with the customer's plant equipment. Once configured, engineers install all the necessary hardware and software to have the FIN system operational in minutes. FIN also trains operators to use the system, and provides one year of technical support and free upgrades.

Benefits of FIN Version 3.7 include:

o Less downtime - maintenance personnel, plant supervisors and machine operators are alerted of issues immediately so that they can take preventative action. Downtime can be cut 50-60%.
o Improved product quality - operators can see and correct equipment fluctuations before they cause product defects.
o Increased operator skill level - operators can see the effects of their actions on product consistency, so they are able to adjust their work accordingly for optimal job performance.

New features of FIN Version 3.7 include:
o A data point editor to add, update, remove, and modify data points
o Trend report-style editing
o Auto-launch of Microsoft Excel when creating reports
