SiteScan(r) Web Utilizes Open Standards for Comprehensive Global Monitoring and Alarm Management of Critical Data Center Support Systems

COLUMBUS, OHIO - April 29, 2003 - Liebert(r) Corporation today announced the availability of SiteScan(r) Web, a full-featured, open standards Web-based global monitoring and alarm management system for computer support systems in business-critical facilities.

Computing and communication systems depend upon power and environmental systems for reliable operation. SiteScan Web minimizes the effects of unforeseen temperature changes and power interruptions in computer rooms, telecommunications centers and industrial process control facilities through early problem detection and automatic notification of responsible personnel. Systems supported include UPS and battery systems, static transfer switches, power distribution units, HVAC equipment, generators, fuel tanks, security access points and fire detection systems.

SiteScan Web's open architecture can easily incorporate graphical floor plans, maps or building pictures. Users can adapt SiteScan Web to their requirements using familiar components like Java, Microsoft FrontPage, and Internet Explorer; and interoperable databases like Oracle, IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server. SiteScan Web utilizes open standards, including ASHRAE's BACnet and Modicon's Modbus-compatible protocols, for seamless, concurrent integration to building management systems. In addition, SiteScan Web includes enhanced trend writing tools to support preventive maintenance programs.

"Effective site monitoring is essential to maximizing uptime of critical facilities," said Steve Ziejewski, product manager for Liebert Corporation. "SiteScan Web gives stakeholders greater flexibility in how they support their critical systems, providing access to real-time monitoring, alarm and trend information from anywhere using virtually any Web-enabled device or appliance."

SiteScan Web can also play a key role in outsourced service. "SiteScan Web gives us a window into our customers' systems that is extremely valuable for more efficient, targeted service delivery," said Troy Dixon, marketing director for Liebert Global Services.
