NI Introduces Four-Channel Module for High-Speed, 24-Bit Data Acquisition

AUSTIN, Texas - Oct. 19, 2004 - Engineers now can perform high-channel-count audio and vibration analysis applications faster and with more accuracy using the new National Instruments (Nasdaq: NATI) PXI-4462 data acquisition (DAQ) module. The NI PXI-4462 DAQ module is the newest addition to the company's 24-bit sound and vibration measurement hardware family and delivers four-channel differential inputs for high-end audio test and noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) applications on the PXI platform.

This DAQ module is ideal for engineers requiring a high-channel-count analog input for vibration, acoustic and audio measurements. The new module features 24-bit delta-sigma converters that provide nearly 120 dB dynamic range across an audio bandwidth up to 20 kHz, ensuring high accuracy for engineers taking precision audio measurements. It also includes antialiasing protection and integrated electronic piezoelectric (IEPE) conditioning for microphones and accelerometers.

Engineers can synchronize this module with the previously released NI PXI-4461 module, which features 24-bit, analog I/O, for vibration applications such as shaker control and stimulus-response tests including speaker testing. The National Instruments 24-bit sound and vibration measurement hardware family now includes three dynamic signal acquisition modules for the PXI platform.

NI PXI-4472 NI PXI-4462 NI PXI-4461
I/O channels 8 input 4 input 2 input/2 output
Sampling rate 102.4 kS/s 204.8 kS/s 204.8 kS/s
Input range ±10 ±316mV - 42V ±316mV - 42V

By using the PXI-4462 DAQ module with powerful software tools such as the NI LabVIEW Sound and Vibration Toolkit 3.1 and the NI LabVIEW Order Analysis Toolkit 2.0, engineers can perform a variety of tests including fractional-octave analysis, total harmonic distortion, spectral analysis and joint time-frequency analysis.
