Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Upgrades Planning Software Platform to Quintiq 5.0

MELBOURNE, Australia – Quintiq, a global leader in supply chain planning and optimization (SCP&O), has announced that Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Pty Ltd (DBCT P/L) has upgraded its logistics and supply chain planning software platform to Quintiq 5.0. DBCT P/L upgraded to the latest software following five successful years using Quintiq 4.2, which was deployed when the company became Quintiq's first Australian customer in 2008.

DBCT P/L is Queensland's largest coal export terminal. The terminal is an integral part of Australia's coal supply chain, ensuring the continuity of coal supply from the Bowen Basin coal fields to the world market. Quintiq has been implemented as an integrated planning and scheduling suite to manage the synchronization of resource stockpiles, trains, stacker/reclaimers, and ships within defined constraints.

DBCT P/L will receive a number of benefits from using 5.0, including:

- Using BIRT (Business Intelligence and Report Tools) to generate reports detailing data from different sources which can be applied to business planning.

- Improved user interface that enables user configurable views and brings planning activity to life.

- An interactive dashboard that allows Terminal Users to define and utilize KPIs as gauges and in a wide range of formats and conditions, allowing for critical information to stand out with maximum effect.

- Redesigned configuration utility that makes it easier to identify and track parameters of planning projects.

"The Terminal's operation and supply chain complexity has grown rapidly during the five years we've been working with Quintiq. Although we were impressed with 4.2's flexibility to manage our changing business needs, we saw the benefits of upgrading to 5.0," said Kelvin Lockyer, Executive Manager Operations, DBCT P/L. "The upgrade implementation went smoothly and was delivered on schedule and to budget. With the new features and functionality we are able to get even further value from the system through the improved usability and intuitive interface."

"DBCT P/L, a long time Quintiq customer, provides a critical service to their stakeholders in the Dalrymple Bay Coal Chain and we are pleased to be providing additional value and delivering improved productivity with this significant upgrade to the current Quintiq platform. In the ERP world you are often talking months and very high (integration) risk to install such an upgrade with high resistance from IT. With Quintiq's layered architecture, and despite DBCT P/L's complexity, their upgrade was efficient and was achieved in a matter of weeks including testing. We are looking forward to DBCT P/L taking full advantage of the new features in Quintiq 5.0" said Paul Shepherd, Director of Quintiq Australia and New Zealand.
