Cyberoam Achieves Exclusive UTM Level 5 Checkmark Certification from West Coast Labs

Cyberoam's Unique Identity-Based UTM Solutions Meet Stringent Certification Criteria, Validating Quality, Performance and Ability to Address Critical Security and Compliance Demands

Newburyport, MA - November 27, 2007 - Cyberoam, a division of Elitecore and a leading innovator of identity-based Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliances, today announces that its CR Series appliance family has achieved West Coast Labs' exclusive UTM Level 5 Checkmark Certification for its antivirus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, URL filtering, enterprise firewall, VPN and IPS technologies. The UTM Level 5 Checkmark Certification is the highest certification available from West Coast Labs, and further validates the design, quality, performance and effectiveness of Cyberoam's UTM solution that is built to meet the security and compliance needs of small to large enterprises, accommodating networks with ten to 5000 users.

Checkmark is the world's fastest growing certification system for information security products and services. Unlike other certification programs, the Checkmark testing criteria are peer reviewed by the West Coast Labs Technology Forum - a group of senior IT security professionals in major corporate organizations around the world -- to ensure that standards and accreditation criteria are an accurate reflection of real-world user requirements.

"Throughout Checkmark testing, Cyberoam appliances have proven themselves to be effective security solutions with powerful protection capabilities," says Chris Thomas, Operations Director at West Coast Labs.

Cyberoam's solution was tested against more than 850 viruses, which includes the current wild list, and nearly 1,000 in the anti-spyware test suite, including a variety of backdoors, downloaders, exploits, proxies, RATs, password stealers, crackers, hijackers and stealers of financial information. In addition, Cyberoam's VPN functionality was tested against unauthorized access, denial-of-service attacks, and that it could enforce policy on a per-user basis. Achieving UTM Level 5 certification signifies that Cyberoam's firewall, antivirus, VPN, anti-spyware, URL filtering and IPS technologies collectively met the testing criteria.

Cyberoam is the only UTM provider on the market that embeds user identity in the firewall rule-matching criteria, eliminating IP addresses as intermediate components to identify and control the user. This offers instant visibility and provides proactive insight and control over multiple aspects of the network. User identity binds the security features to create a single, consolidated Cyberoam security unit, enabling the administrator to dynamically change easy-to-configure security policies while accounting for user movement, including joiner, leaver, rise in hierarchy and more.

"We are thrilled that our unique UTM solution received West Coast Labs' distinguished Level 5 Checkmark Certification," said Abhilash Sonwane, Vice President of Product Management, Cyberoam. "As security threats rapidly emerge and evolve, we as an industry need to ensure that the solutions we provide can withstand even the most stealth network attacks. Working with West Coast Labs enabled us to fully test and certify our entire UTM portfolio from end to end. Now our customers have peace of mind in knowing that their networks are protected 24x7 with one of the market's most powerful UTM solutions available."

Outside of its identity-based firewall, VPN, antivirus, anti-spam, intrusion detection and prevention, and content filtering capabilities, Cyberoam's UTM solution also includes bandwidth management and multiple link load balancing - with all technologies delivered over a single platform, enabling enterprises across a broad spectrum of vertical markets to implement a strong, efficient integrated security strategy. Additionally, Cyberoam's intelligent reporting and analysis allows organizations to effectively manage Internet usage, increasing the level of security, productivity and mobility while reducing the strain on internal resources.
