Cushman® Hauler® Utility Vehicle Named Among Top 100 Products of 2016

Utility vehicle recognized for its technology and engineering features

AUGUSTA, Ga., Dec. 20, 2016 - Cushman, a Textron Specialized Vehicles brand, is proud to have the Hauler named one of Construction Equipment magazine's Top 100 Products of 2016 in the Trucking & Hauling category.

"Construction Equipment magazine editors consider Cushman Hauler's electric option to be 'new technology,' which is one of the focus areas for the award," said Rod Sutton, Editorial Director, Construction Equipment, Equipment Manager, "We also value Cushman's drive to increase competition by unveiling a utility vehicle with bed customization options."

Cushman vehicles are designed and manufactured by Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company.

Construction Equipment readers appreciate the option to select the bed type and features on their Hauler utility vehicle, Sutton said. Bed options on the new truck-inspired Hauler include either a sound-dampening 12-cubic-foot durable roto-molded polyethylene bed, or the upgraded 15-cubic-foot fully aluminum bed for extra space. The standard poly bed includes integrated divider slots to allow for increased organization and customizable bed storage. The aluminum bed features an L-track bed system that can accommodate hooks and brackets for convenient tie-down locations and space-saving accessories.

Construction Equipment editors were also excited by Hauler's electric capabilities. The Hauler PRO and Hauler PRO-X models feature a powerful 72-volt AC electric drive that can go up to 50 miles on a single charge. Additionally, the Hauler PRO can be equipped with optional four-wheel hydraulic brakes that include their patented IntelliBrake™ system. The system encompasses two technologies: a motor brake that automatically slows the vehicle when traveling up or down steep grades and a parking brake that automatically engages when the vehicle stops. This system also delivers full-time regenerative braking, redirecting energy back into the vehicle's batteries whenever the brakes are applied, recharging the batteries during use and further extending the vehicle's energy efficiency and range.

Construction Equipment magazine evaluates new products in these eight categories:

  • Heavy Earthmoving
  • Light Earthmoving
  • Technology
  • Trucking & Hauling
  • Paving and Compacting
  • Lifting & Material Handling
  • Drilling & Trenching
  • Light Equipment
  • Ancillary

Products selected in the eight categories above must then fulfill four criteria: new technology, new product line, significant improvement to an existing product and increase competition in the category.

"Every year we evaluate hundreds of new products that are submitted to Construction Equipment and select 100 products that we think are the most innovative and impactful," Sutton said. "It is an honor to receive this award."

This is the 26th year that Construction Equipment has recognized companies with the award. The Cushman Hauler utility vehicle is featured in the December ssue of Construction Equipment.
