CSR's RadioPro Internet Radio Includes RealAudio

The world's most popular radio content can be heard by RadioPro users

Cambridge, UK - 15 November 2007 - CSR (LSE: CSR) today announced that it has embedded the RealNetworks® RealAudio® codec in its Internet radio example design, RadioPro. As one of the most established and ubiquitous audio streaming formats, RealAudio will provide users of products based on RadioPro with access to the widest possible range of online content.

As a digital entertainment services company, RealNetworks delivers a wide range of digital media and entertainment across the Internet. Their popular audio codec, RealAudio, which is used to stream internet radio, has been implemented into RadioPro's DSP. The codec is reliable, provides a high-quality listening experience and some of the most popular and numerous radio stations and programmes, such as the BBC and NPR, are broadcast in this format.

CSR's RadioPro design connects directly to the Internet without the need for an intermediary PC. It has a bill of materials (BOM) of under $15, which makes RadioPro the lowest-cost Internet radio solution on the market. Based on CSR's single-chip UniFi technology, RadioPro is also very power efficient, and provides 25 hours streaming time based on a 1500 mAH battery. The example design is already in development with a number of lead customers, and internet radios based on RadioPro will be in shops by Christmas 2007.

"RealNetworks uses advanced audio techniques to deliver digital entertainment to a wide audience as efficiently as possible," said Scott Nelson, Director RealNetworks. "By including RealAudio in its RadioPro design, CSR has a proven way to provide quality radio stations to users of Internet radio, a rapidly developing and growing market."

"CSR was keen to ensure that RadioPro would provide as many radio stations as possible" said Tracy Hopkins, Vice President of CSR's Consumer Business Unit, "RadioPro is already the lowest-cost Internet radio solution available, is ready to go out of the box and RealAudio compatibility delivers a simple, enjoyable and hassle-free experience for the end user."
