Cross-Belt Sorter suits high-volume distribution centers.

Press Release Summary:

Cross-Belt Sorter sorts at speeds up to 413 fpm and handles items up to 66 lbs. By bridging items across 2 or 3 trays, sorter accommodates very long and unusually sized items. On induction unit, all items are dynamically measured, and if necessary, volume-scanned, weighed, and identified. System attaches all relevant information to item prior to the sorting process. It also allows sorting of heavy items to one side of discharge point and fragile items to opposite side.

FKI Logistex Crisplant's Cross-Belt Sorter - Ideal For Sorting Fragile, High-Friction, And Oversized Items

(Frederick, Maryland: July 26, 2002), FKI Logistex (LSE: FKI.L) Crisplant presents the cross-belt sorter, a flexible and efficient choice for high-volume distribution centers and warehouses. Crisplant's cross-belt sorter, which sorts at speeds of up to 413 feet per minute, is specifically designed for items that present the most difficulties during sorting such as fragile items, a diverse mix of items, high-friction items, items that require horizontal a discharge, and items that must maintain their precise position and orientation throughout the entire sorting process.

Crisplant's cross-belt sorter handles articles up to 50 kg (66 lbs.) and by bridging items across two or three trays, the cross-belt sorter copes easily with very long and unusually sized items. On the induction unit, all items are dynamically measured
and, if necessary, volume-scanned, weighed, and identified. They are then placed in the center of the cross-belt unit irrespective of size, ensuring safe and accurate transport.

The system attaches all relevant information to an item prior to the sorting process; ensuring that the handling of each item is optimized. The system also allows sorting of heavy items to one side of a discharge point whereas light, fragile items are
sorted to the opposite side, thus offering maximum protection against damage.

The accurate discharge and orientation of items make an additional automatic scanning possible, facilitating the automatic stacking of discharged items at the discharge point.
