Crash Simulation Software features 64-bit Open VTOS.

Press Release Summary:

Ported to Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition, PAM-CRASH Solver provides engineers on Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server (CCS) 2003 with software for crash simulation. It integrates with Microsoft Message Passing Interface and Job Scheduler technologies to run resource-demanding CAE applications, allowing engineers to work with virtual models with more than 4.5 million elements that require 3-4 GB of memory. It also lets users benefit from DMP on clusters of 64-bit hardware.

ESI Group Releases 64-Bit Version of Open VTOS Visual Environment and Pam-Crash Simulation Software on Microsoft Cluster Server

Chicago, December 12, 2005

ESI Group of France announces the release of its PAM-CRASH Solver software for crash simulation for engineers on Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server (CCS) 2003. This announcement follows a successful demonstration of the powerful capabilities of the company's 64-bit Open Virtual Try-Out Space (VTOS) interface on a cluster of industry-standard hardware at the SUPERCOMPUTING 2005 tradeshow in Seattle on Nov. 15.

The software is ported to Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition and easily integrates with Microsoft Message Passing Interface and Job Scheduler technologies. Because the cluster increases the computing power, the solution offers a cost-effective approach to running resource-demanding CAE applications, like PAM-CRASH. This advantage allows engineers to work with very large virtual models (more than 4.5 million elements) that require more than 3 to 4 GB of memory, explains Jean-Louis Duval, Open VTOS Business Manager of ESI Group.

The Open VTOS is a proven engineering simulation environment initiated with PAM-CRASH, LS-DYNA, NASTRAN and RADIOSS software on Windows CCS 2003, and encompasses Visual Environment and all ESI Group's simulation software. "This version will allow our customers to benefit from the performance of the DMP [distributed memory processing] version of PAM-CRASH on clusters of industry-standard 64-bit hardware," adds Vincent Chaillou, President and Software Operations Chief Operating Officer of ESI Group.

"We understand that the availability of 64-bit applications from software vendors such as ESI is critical in helping our mainstream customers be able to easily deploy, manage, and use Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003," says Kyril Faenov, Director of High-Performance Computing for Microsoft.

About ESI Group:
ESI Group is a world-leading supplier and pioneer of digital simulation software for prototyping and manufacturing processes that take into account the physics of materials. Its extensive suite of coherent, industry-oriented applications realistically simulate a product's behavior during testing to fine-tune manufacturing processes for desired product performance and evaluate the environment's impact on it. The products have a proven track record in manufacturing and represent a virtual engineering solution known as the Virtual Try-Out Space (VTOS), enabling virtual prototypes to be improved in a continuous and collaborative manner. This allows the company's solutions to work together and with other independently developed applications. By reducing costs and development lead times and enabling product/process synergies, VTOS solutions offer a competitive advantage by lessening the need for physical prototypes during product development. The company employs almost 500 high-level specialists worldwide covering more than 30 countries.
