Don't Fear the Power

Fountain Valley, CA, March 23, 2005 - SMA's CompactMAX CPU7.2 can now be equipped with Intel's new Ultra Low Voltage Celeron M 373 processor. Due to its embedded architecture the Celeron M 373 supports features that make it predestined for use in industrial applications: Power emission is just 5 watts at a clock speed of 1 GHz. High performance fanless systems, one of SMA's specialties, and systems for use in extended temperature ranges can now be made with more speed and less heat.

Long-Term Availability Guaranteed

The ULV Celeron M 373 is also part of Intel's Component Roadmap for Embedded Computing which includes products for which long-term availability is guaranteed. Industrial applications need to be reproducible over long periods of time: The decision for the CPU7.2 with ULV Celeron M 373 ensures that you will not encounter a costly switch to another processor anytime soon.

Two basic versions of the CompactMAX 7.2 are available. The CPU7.2C offers all essential functions of an industrial computer on a single eurocard. 4 HP is all the space you need for a powerful processor with CompactFlash, Gigabit Ethernet, efficient graphics, two USB ports and up to 1 GByte RAM.

Extensive additional functions are available on the 8 HP CPU7.2M. It offers a second Ethernet interface, non-volatile FRAM for permanent storage of critical system data (Critical System Data Mirror), stereo audio functions, and two serial interfaces.

Both the CPU7.2C and the CPU7.2M can be extended with different rear I/O modules. Thus, functions such as mass storage, a hot swap capable CompactFlash slot, mouse, keyboard, VGA, LPT, and serial interfaces are possible.

The CompactMAX CPU7.2 is available starting at $1,800.
