Audiovox Cordless Telephones Focus On 2.4GHz Market

Las Vegas NV - January 2004 - Last year, Audiovox launched its first line of cordless telephones. No stranger to the communications market, the company has enjoyed a significant market share in cellular since the industry's inception and was a dominant player in the corded phone market in the '80's. The company's 2004 line up features expandable digital spread spectrum units in the 2.4GHz range.

Ralph Etna Consumer Products VP of Audiovox Electronics Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Audiovox Corporation (NASDAQ: VOXX), stated, "We introduced out first-ever cordless telephones at the 2003 CE Show and watched as it moved through the distribution channels, steadily gaining momentum. We believe that growth will continue in 2004 as we introduce these new consumer-friendly products."

The new cordless telephone, Model TL1200A, is an expandable digital spread spectrum unit, featuring 2.4 GHz, Caller ID, a base stand with a built-in telephone answering machine and a built-in hands-free speakerphone. It accepts up to four cordless extension phones. MSRP: $89.95.

The introduction of the TL1200A is, in Etna's view, a logical extension of Audiovox's initial entry into the 2.4 GHz market. "Given the consumer's recognition of the strong Audiovox name in the communications market, these products are perceived as high-tech, high-value and being offered at a fair price. Cordless is part of our ever-growing consumer electronic product line up that includes TV's, portable DVDs and home and portable stereos. This new cordless line is a logical extension of that business and has been a solid addition. The products are feature-packed, well-designed, stylish and priced right; they have all the elements for success at retail," he said.
