Mitutoyo's New Generation of CNC CMMs: The Crysta Apex Series 700/900
(Aurora, IL) Mitutoyo America Corporation announces a new generation of high-speed, high-accuracy CNC CMMs: the Crysta Apex Series 700/900. Rugged and economical, with high throughput measurement, this mid-range series is ideal for integration directly into production processes on the plant floor.
The new Crysta Apex CMM utilizes Mitutoyo's proven lightweight alloy moving structure delivering high acceleration, stability of travel and no vibration to influence measured results. The precision glass scales offer enhanced resolution of 0.0001mm (.000004"). The Crysta Apex is currently available in five models across the 700 and 900 series. Measuring range starts at X = 705mm (27.76"), Y = 705mm (27.76") and Z = 605mm (23.82") on the Model 707, on up to a range of X = 905mm (35.63"), Y = 2005mm (78.94") and Z = 605mm (23.82") on the Model 920. They feature accuracy of (2.5+3L/l000)micrometer per ISO for the 700 series and (2.9+3L/1000)micrometer per ISO for the 900 series. Both series present high-speed and silent motion.
The Crysta Apex is at home even in manufacturing areas where temperature fluctuations would usually affect accuracy. It features real-time temperature compensation that, when applied, will maintain measuring accuracy even at temperature extremes from 60.8° F to 78.8°F (16°C to 26°). Temperature sensors can be located on each CMM axis while two other sensors monitor the part temperature.
Additional design features include a rugged, one-piece standard base for ease of installation, complete internal wiring and simplified construction. These contribute to ease of maintenance and superior reliability. Most of all, the optimized design of Crysta Apex allows it to be introduced at a cost within reach of many more shops -at no sacrifice in performance.
The full suite of Mitutoyo measurement software is available, starting with the standard GEOMeasure(TM) CNC CMM measurement and tolerancing software for 3-D, general-purpose work. Extended modules include CADMeasure(TM) for interfacing with CAD systems plus off-line programming and SCANMeasure(TM) for continuous or discreet point analysis of surfaces and curves. Measurlink® SPC software captures and reports quality levels in real-time and offers networking capability to centralize data."
