Conveyor Belt Cleaner eliminates need to recess splices.

Press Release Summary:

Eliminator® Belle Banne® U-Type® C-Blade Cleaner combines impact-resistant, tungsten-carbide tips with U-Type curved-blade design to minimize damage to blade and belt fasteners. While metal tips scrape away stubborn, wet, sticky carryback, rubber backing acts as squeegee to help remove any water. Curve of cleaner blade enables it to lift and glide across fastener plates without full-width impact. Cleaner is offered in 12 sizes to accommodate belt widths ranging from 18 to 120 in.

Original Press Release:

New Tungsten Carbide Conveyor Belt Cleaner from Flexco Avoids Need to Recess Mechanical Splices and Repair Patches

DOWNERS GROVE (IL), OCT. 18, 2002 -- A new version of curved-blade conveyor belt cleaners offered by Flexco -- the Eliminator® Belle Banne® U-Type® C-Blade Cleaner -- now lets the high-efficiency tungsten carbide cleaning traditionally reserved for vulcanized belts serve those using solid-plate splices and rip-repair patches that are not recessed (skived) below the belt cover surface. This new C-Blade model combines specially formulated, impact-resistant tungsten carbide tips with the patented U-Type curved-blade design for maximum cleaning power with minimum damage to either blade or belt fasteners. Its tungsten carbide blade tips last three to four times longer than urethane blades typically used with unrecessed fasteners.

As with all Eliminator belt cleaners, the new U-Type C-Blade is backed by a 30-day guarantee that allows return for full credit or refund if performance fails to meet user expectations.

The C-Blade's tungsten carbide tips are arranged in short end-to-end segments along the leading face of a continuous rubber blade body. While the metal tips scrape away the most stubborn, wet, sticky carryback, the rubber backing acts as a squeegee to help remove any water.

The curve of the U-Type cleaner blade enables it to lift and glide more easily across fastener plates without the full-width impact that results when straight-blade cleaners meet the row of fasteners head-on. Minimizing blade-to-splice impact greatly extends the life of the tungsten carbide blade, typically to more than a year, and extends the life of fasteners and belting as well.

Cleaning power is strengthened by the curved blade's patented offset mounting system, which pivots at the leading ends of the blade while the curved central portion trails in the direction of belt travel. Spring tension rotates the curved central portion upward into the center material path of the belt, applying greater blade pressure there where strongest cleaning effort is needed, and less pressure along the belt edges where blade-to-splice contact first occurs. This self-adjusting action also compensates automatically for moderately cupped or worn belting, and for increased wear that occurs naturally in the center area of the blade, assuring uniform blade contact across the full width of the belt throughout the blade's service life

Spring tension is controlled by simple bolt/nut adjustment, performed from beside the conveyor for safety. Visual observation of gaps between spring coils for gives easy confirmation of blade tension.

Built for minimal maintenance, the U-Type C-Blade Cleaner features a cartridge format that is easily replaced in minutes. Two retaining bolts are loosened to let the spent blade slide out, then retightened to lock the new blade in. The new C-Blade interchangeably retrofits earlier Eliminator U-Type and U-Type LS (limited space) cleaners.

The U-Type C-Blade cleaner is offered in 12 sizes to accommodate standard conveyor-belt widths ranging from 18" to 120" (450-3000mm).

Eliminator U-Type cleaners are intended for installation in the secondary position, to perform final cleaning immediately behind primary head-pulley precleaners. Installation is easy, mounting with two brackets that bolt or weld onto any conveyor structure, one on each side. Both brackets feature built-in adjusting bolts for leveling and adjusting the cleaner's position in relation to the belt. Two additional bolt-on brackets allow the spring tensioning devices to be independently anchored on both sides of the conveyor, in an infinite variety of positions.
