Seattle-Based Company Unveils Control Software Guaranteed to Reduce HVAC Energy Consumption and Operating Costs for Commercial Buildings

SEATTLE, Oct. 6 /-- Optimum Energy LLC, provider of Ultra High Performance HVAC software applications guaranteed to reduce energy consumption and operating costs with no impact on occupant comfort, recently announced the introduction of OptimumHVAC, unique software applications that allow building engineers to analyze HVAC system performance and remotely troubleshoot, in real time, over the internet.

"With regards to the environment, OptimumHVAC represents the defining force behind the method in which intelligent software impacts a building's ability to operate in the most efficient manner possible," said Nathan Rothman, president and CEO of Optimum Energy. "The value of the software applications lie in their ability to collect, analyze and report a facility's operating data in real time which allows building operators to remotely troubleshoot with Optimum Energy's team of engineers anytime, anywhere."

Developed and proven over a three-year time span, OptimumHVAC is intelligent software based on patented Hartman Technologies residing in a microprocessor-based control appliance that hooks up via Ethernet to a Building's Automation System (BAS). The appliance is brand agnostic allowing it to talk to any BAS, and can be installed by any licensed mechanical or controls contractor.

By tracking building performance remotely, OptimumHVAC measures and verifies equipment operations and savings on both a real time and historical basis. The software works on traditional systems, setting a new standard in HVAC system performance.

"All buildings need to integrate their systems in the best possible way using a variety of proven technologies," said Charles Fletcher, executive vice president of EMCOR Services for Mesa Energy Systems. "However, the proof is in the pudding, OptimumHVAC software has proven to reduce energy usage in a central plant by 50 percent on average in most cases."

There are two delivery options for OptimumHVAC. The first, OptimumLOOP, targets buildings with centrifugal chiller plants. Through the use of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), OptimumLOOP saves between 30 and 60 percent of the total chilled water system energy usage, as well as cut water consumption by up to 13 percent.

The second delivery, OptimumTRAV, is designed for buildings with Variable Air Volume (VAV) air handling units. For full implementation benefits, installation of VFDs on air handlers and Direct Digital Controls (DDC) on all VAV terminal units is required allowing OptimumTRAV to save HVAC energy usage between 25 and 40 percent while realizing reductions in both heating and cooling costs as well as electrical and gas usage.
