Original Press Release:

Windows CE-based Control Panels

Harrisburg, PA - A new generation of Windows CE-based Control Panels combines the functions of a PLC and an operator panel in one compact and powerful unit. By eliminating the need for separate operating and monitoring devices, a reduction in cost, machine size and design time is realized.

Bridging the gap between PCs and the traditional PLC, the Control Panels are ideally suited for applications that do not require the high-end performance of a PC but still have a need for comprehensive display of vital machine information. 48MB RAM of user program memory exceeds the capacity of the largest PLC's. The dual-processor design for the control/HMI and the I/O handling give these units a performance advantage over competitive Windows CE-based operator panels.

The CP3xxT-STUDIO-IB are available in 6" (CP306), 10" (CP310) and 12" (CP312) screen sizes and offer bright TFT color touch screens, a built-in device level master and a
10/100BASE-T Ethernet port for easy networking.

These Control Panels reflect the first major joint development between Phoenix Contact and Entivity. The state of the art object oriented control software, through Entivity's Studio flow-chart software and the use of a common OPC tag database, allow fast program development. Complete graphics and HMI visualization is based on Iconics PanelWorX software. The CE CP panels have the runtime of both software packages already pre-installed and pre-integrated. Programs and configuration data may be stored on a removable 32MB compact flash card.
Larger compact flash cards are available as an option.

The new Control Panels are part of Phoenix Contact's modular control concept that enables users to pick the right performance class and components for their application. The modular control concept is based on the company's expertise in connection, communication and packaging technologies and increases the speed of system design, construction and commissioning.
