Content Addressable Memory suits search applications.

Press Release Summary:

Offered in 66, 83, and 100 MHz speed grades, 2 Mb Harmony(TM) pipelined, synchronous 16 K x 136 ternary content addressable memory (TCAM) device allows use of multiple search tables within same device. It simultaneously compares data against pre-stored array of addresses. As second source for TCAMs, Harmony device is plug-and-play compatible, and is available in 272-pin BGA package with 1.8 V core and 3.3 V I/O.

Micron Technology, Inc., Expands Networking Memory Portfolio with Ternary Content Addressable Memory Products

Micron brings 2 megabit Harmony device to market

Boise, Idaho, January 13, 2003 -- Micron Technology, Inc., today announced availability of a 2 megabit (Mb) Harmony(tm) ternary content addressable memory (TCAM) device in 66 MHz, 83 MHz and 100 MHz speed grades. Micron's Harmony 2Mb device is a high-performance, pipelined, synchronous 16K x 136 content addressable memory (CAM). The 2Mb 66 MHz Harmony device recently qualified, allowing Micron to move forward with volume production. In addition, engineering samples of the 2Mb 83 MHz and 100 MHz Harmony devices are currently available with production expected in the second calendar quarter of 2003.

"The Harmony product family is a great addition to Micron's networking memory solutions," said Jerry Johnson, Micron's Director of Strategic Marketing for Networking and Communications. "This device is an excellent choice for those applications needing intensive search operations. With the introduction of this new TCAM device, Micron is well positioned to support our networking customers with a wide-range of high-performance memory solutions, including QDR(tm) and DDR SRAM, RLDRAM(tm) and TCAM memory products."

The Harmony device allows the use of multiple search tables within the same device. It simultaneously compares data against an entire pre-stored array of addresses, providing a performance advantage by reducing search times by an order-of-magnitude over typical binary or tree-based search algorithms.

Micron is focused on providing cost-effective, high-speed TCAM solutions to the networking and communications markets, specifically targeting applications requiring highly intensive search operations. As a second source for TCAMs, the Harmony device is plug-and-play compatible to Cypress' (CYNSE70064) part. These devices are available in a 272-pin BGA package with 1.8 core and 3.3 I/O voltages. Micron also currently plans to sample a 1Mb Harmony device later this year.
