Thomas & Betts Redesigns Connector for Conductor Termination in Confined Spaces
Color-Keyed® Narrow Tongue Lugs Feature Engineered Width for Uniform Connector Dimension
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - April 2, 2007 - In response to the growing demand for conductor termination in confined spaces, Thomas & Betts (NYSE: TNB) redesigned its line of Color-Keyed® Narrow Tongue Lugs to feature an engineered width for a uniform connector dimension. "The redesigned Narrow Tongue Lugs enables the termination of conductors into confined spaces for applications that include molded case circuit breakers; motor controls, such as starters; safety switches; and other panel or control components," said Jerry Woodward, senior product manager for Thomas & Betts.
Narrow Tongue Lugs are made of high-conductivity, seamless electrolytic wrought copper tubing that is electro-plated with tin to prevent corrosion. Other features include a double-chamfered barrel to facilitate the safe insertion of conductors into the lug and color-coding to ensure the correct matching of lugs to die sets, the correct number and location of crimps for installation and proper inspection and verification of connections.
