Connecting and Scaling a 4-20ma Signal to an Accsense A1-10 Pod

Accsense Wireless Current Data Loggers

CHESTERLAND OH - Many CAS DataLoggers customers utilize Accsense A1-10 Wireless Current Data Loggers to record and monitor current in critical applications such as healthcare, health sciences, and research and manufacturing. This wireless data logger pod is specifically designed to hook up to multiple 4-20mA inputs (6 total), allowing an increase in the number of sensors per pod and reducing the user's cost per measurement. This brief technical guide will take users through the quick steps needed to connect and properly scale 4-20ma signals to these Accsense datalogging pods. All you'll require is the pod itself and up to 6 sensors with 4-20ma output.

First you'll wire the data logger. The A1-10 pod can take 6 analog inputs and 2 digital (switch) inputs. To wire a current input, either pin 1 or pin 10 can be used as the ground, and pins 4-9 will be the signal return. As an example, the input for 'channel 1' will be on terminal 4, 'channel 2' on pin 5, etc.

Once your sensors are wired up, you'll need to scale them so that they read in the proper engineering units. In order to do this, you'll need the 'Accsense Online Calibration Coefficients Utility,' located at

This utility has a straightforward navigation: the default setting when you first open the utility will be for 4-20ma, so that does not need to be changed. Set the 'Physical Input Range' boxes to correspond to the bottom and top measurements that your transducer is capable of (i.e. 0-5000 PSI). Once you enter these numbers, press 'Calculate,' and the 'Coefficient' boxes will populate and also be entered into the 'Advanced' tab in the preferences for the probe (the Preferences icon will be located on the far right of the webpage). At this point, make sure that the units are set properly in the 'General' tab.

Now when you start taking readings, you will see everything scaled properly and with the correct units on both the graph and in the downloaded data.
