Comtech Xicom Technology Receives First Annual Impact Award for New SuperPower(TM) SATCOM Uplink Amplifiers from SatNews Publishers

SANTA CLARA, CALIF.  – Comtech Xicom Technology, Inc., the leader in high power amplifier products for satellite communications (SATCOM), received the first Annual Impact Award from SatNews Publishers during Satellite2015, for their introduction of a new line of SuperPower™  traveling wave tube amplifiers (TWTAs) that can double available TWTA output and provide direct replacement for klystron power amplifiers (KPAs) in satellite communications uplinks.

"This Impact Award signifies the new product, or applied technology, that SatNews believes has, or will have, a significant impact on the SATCOM industry in the coming year," said Silvano Payne, Publisher of SatNews Publishers.

Hartley Lesser, Editorial Director at SatNews Publishers stated "I would like to present the SatNews Impact Award in SATCOM to Comtech Xicom Technology for their SuperPower TWTA product line. To the President of Comtech Xicom Technology, John Branscum, our heartiest congratulations."

Receiving the award John Branscum stated, "On behalf of those who worked so hard at Xicom to provide the industry with these breakthrough products, thank you, SatNews Publishers. These TWTAs were made possible with Xicom’s development of new SuperPower technology."

The SuperPower Ku- and DBS-band TWTAs were made possible with Xicom’s advanced development of new TWT technology that brings proven space designs down to the ground. It takes established millimeter wave designs and scales them for use at Ku-band frequencies. The extremely high efficiency of these new amplifiers enables a doubling of the RF power density, fitting double, or more, RF output power in a similar size package while still increasing reliability. The result is not only the highest power helix TWT ever offered for these commercial SATCOM uplink bands, but also an extremely efficient, compact and reliable amplifier that can dramatically lower capital and operations expense. The SuperPower TWTAs, at both frequency bands, are available as rugged outdoor antenna-mount units or as indoor rack-mount configurations that incorporate Xicom’s TouchScreen front panels for ease of use and access.

The new TWTAs incorporate Xicom’s Life Xtension with Constant Current control mechanism for dramatically extending the useful life of the TWTA while providing the operations team with valuable and accurate predictive information on end-of-life for long-term replacement planning. Xicom representatives will be available for SATCOM providers and developers to discuss and obtain technical information on these and many additional amplifier products at the Comtech Xicom Technology, Booth #SU 5921, during the 2015 NAB

Show (www.nabshow.com), April 13–16, 2015, Las Vegas NV. For additional information contact: Comtech Xicom Technology, Inc., 3550 Bassett Street, Santa Clara, California 95054 U.S.A., Phone: 1-408-213-3000, Fax: 1-408-213-3001, e-mail: sales@xicomtech.com, Web: www.xicomtech.co
