Time Saving Compliant Pipe Repair

Belzona Launches Standard Compliant Composite Wrap

Belzona Polymerics, the world leader in the design and manufacture of polymer repair composites and industrial protective coatings launches its new compliant composite pipe repair system, Belzona "SuperWrap".

Belzona SuperWrap is the first composite repair system from UK based company Belzona Polymerics to have been developed in compliance with international and technical standards ISO/TS 24817 and ASME PCC-2. It also complies with US DOT requirements.

An independent auditor from ESR Technology acting on behalf of the Association of Corrosion Repair Suppliers (ACoReS) confirmed that Belzona has met the requirements of these standards in full and the system is now being offered across the globe.

The versatile system provides customers with a downtime saving alternative to welding and the cold-curing ability enables corrosion damaged components to be back online within 24 hours. Belzona SuperWrap can be applied in situ to pipes and vessels, even in cases where operating pressures exceed 250bar.

The versatility of the system also allows applications to any geometry of piping, including bends, tees and complex geometry and resists a wide range of chemicals, oils and process fluids.

By offering a design life longer than the anticipated asset life of a component, Belzona SuperWrap addresses the historical concerns of whether composite materials provide a temporary fix or permanent repair.

In line with the high level requirements of the international standards that Belzona SuperWrap has been designed to, Belzona have selected and validated a number of application companies and applicators to provide a consistent and unparalleled level of service to customers around the world.

Belzona's Strategic Manager for the Oil & Gas Industry, David Rice, said: "Having validated engineering design algorithms has moved composite repair into the asset integrity engineers' approved options for consideration when faced with thinning and or holed pressure systems' substrates.

"I am proud that we have been able to publically introduce Belzona SuperWrap, Belzona's first ISO and ASME compliant composite repair system. Our customers already know that Belzona lead the market in terms of producing the highest quality products but the external recognition of this fact only reinforces this belief.

"We are confident that the Belzona reputation for quality, combined with the high level of service which we are renowned for offering, will ensure that Belzona becomes a market leader in the competitive composite wrap market and see a new industry benchmark being set for pipe repairs."

Belzona is a founding member of ACoReS, the group of leading composite repair manufacturers whose members undertake audits every two years to ensure compliance with new standards and directives.
