Marotta Introduces New Composite Valves for Naval Vessels

Montville, NJ (October 26, 2004) - Marotta Controls introduces a new range of lightweight Composite In-Line Valves for use on naval vessels. Manufactured from a proprietary composite material, these new valves eliminate the degenerating effects of the harsh seawater environment and weigh just one-third of their metal counterparts. The Composite valves can operate in a wide variety of naval systems, from a ship's firefighting and damage control to chilled water and vessel fuel supply lines.

The Composite valves can withstand shock, vibration and heavy use as well as their metallic counterparts. Significantly, the composite material has superior corrosion resistant characteristics and is fire retardant. This new material virtually extends the service life of the valve for nearly as long as the ship itself.

"Composite valves are part of Marotta's proactive initiative to position our designs to be stronger, lighter and less expensive to manufacture," said Michael J. Leahan, Vice President and Chief Sales Officer at Marotta. "This new composite construction, combined with our proven core fluids control expertise and smart (computer monitored and controlled) technology, form a powerful tool to mold the next decade of the world's ever-evolving naval fleet."
