SA Forum Introduces HPI B.01.01 Compliance Test Suite

Test Suite allows companies to assess implementations of SA Forum Hardware Platform Interface specification

BEAVERTON, Ore., Aug. 8 / -- The Service Availability Forum(TM) (SA Forum), the leader in developing open specifications for carrier-grade service availability, today announced the availability of the SA Forum HPI B.01.01 Compliance Test Suite -- the SA Forum's first compliance test suite. This test suite provides users a clear indication of their conformance to the specification. Anyone can execute this test suite in-house and provide the results to the SA Forum for audit. Products that pass the compliance test suite will be posted on the SA Forum Web site.

"By utilizing software that has successfully passed the compliance suite, IBM will significantly improve our time to market for new solutions while lowering our development expenses," said Bruce Anthony, Distinguished Engineer and CTO, IBM. "This new test suite provides a solid foundation to ensure that COTS software has correctly implemented the SA Forum interfaces and is readily portable across COTS hardware platforms, lowering the testing complexity."

"The HPI Compliance Test Suite was developed in conjunction with the University of New Hampshire Computer Science Department's Center for Software Systems, a research and development group," said Bryan Harold, SA Forum Compliance Governance Board Chair. "Scott Valcourt, Project Director, along with faculty and students at the university were key drivers in the development of the testing harness, test development, and code review process."

This is the SA Forum's first in a series of planned compliance test suites, which will include testing for its Application Interface Specification (AIS). The HPI test suite will be maintained by adding future tests, and will continue to be revised to match specification revisions.
